Closing out the local performances for Saturday were the crowned princes of Detroit Country, The Forbes Brothers. Winners of 23 Detroit Music Awards, you can’t begin to think of a Hoedown without Scott, Dennis, and the wonderfully talented players in this group.

This may, however, be the last year that the Forbes fall into the local category. Recently returning from a showcase in New York City at the famed La Bar Bat, the band is currently in negotiations with a record label.

The new CD for the Oakland County band is titled WRONG END OF THE BAR, and  includes 12 original songs. Prime for single release is the group’s signature song, "Hip Hop Country Rock," which describes what it’s like being a country rock band from Detroit. All songs on the new CD were co-written by the talented brothers, who often retreat to their northern cabin for weekend-long songwriting sessions.

Lead singer Ronnie Jacobs was in fine form, while delivering what can be called some of the finest local country entertainment to a packed Hart Plaza stage area.
